CCMF-Bikol shares technique on Mushroom Production to MovEd parents
On February 20, through the invitation of Mark Nil Torres, MovEd Bikol Program Education Officer, CCMF-Bikol participated in the livelihood training on Mushroom Production in Magarao, Camarines Sur. The training was attended by around 70 parents of children being assisted by MovEd Foundation (Move.Org), an NGO that provides early childhood education, care, and development programs to give every Filipino child a strong foundation for lifelong success.
The lead trainer was Isagani C. Tariman, Technical Consultant of the Madrigal Integrated Farming and Training Program (MIFTP). He emphasized that mushroom farming is a “fast-rising” market opportunity, offering high returns on minimal investment and significant health benefits for consumers.
Participants learned that while mushroom cultivation is delicate, the Department of Agriculture (DA) is ready to support organized groups. Tariman advised attendees to form accredited organizations to access DA assistance, including tools, fruiting bags, and grain spawns.
This collaborative effort by CCMF-Bikol and MovEd not only introduces a new income source but also strengthens the local industry, ensuring that Bikolano families can transform a modest backyard project into a sustainable, profit-making enterprise.
