Pilgrims of Hope: Over 4,000 Microfinance Members attend

GA and

Christmas Party

The spirit of community and resilience was on full display as more than 4,000 Microfinance members from across Camarines Sur and Polangui, Albay, gathered for the first post-pandemic General Assembly of Microfinance Program. Guided by the theme “Kita Gabos Peregrino nin Paglaom” (We are all Pilgrims of Hope), the event served as both a spiritual renewal and a celebration of shared success.

The assembly opened with a Holy Mass presided over by Most Rev. Jose R. Rojas, Jr., D.D., Bishop of Libmanan. Joining him were concelebrating priests from the Archdiocese of Caceres, the Diocese of Libmanan, the Society of Jesus, and the Missionaries of the Poor. In a stirring homily, Bishop Rojas encouraged members to find strength in their faith: “Like Mary, may we also learn to smile at the will of the Holy God. May we also have the courage to accept His calling—the courage to trust in His power, His mercy, and His love.

Following the Mass, the community celebrated the launch of “Consuelo: Stories of Hope.” Author Alexandra Amanda Eduque, alongside Susana AS. Madrigal, presented the book to Bishop Rojas. The work highlights the lived experiences and triumphs of CCMF-Bikol beneficiaries. “As beneficiaries, you are the heart of CCMF-Bikol. You represent the living legacy of Tita Chito,” Eduque said.

The energy shifted in the afternoon as the Pagalingan sa Pasko Dance Contest took center stage. The members from Naga West Branch delivered a powerhouse performance, successfully defending their title and taking home again the Grand Champion title. The excitement reached its peak during the Pangkabuhayan Grand Raffle Draw. Genelyn De Vera, a member from Del Carmen, Sagñay Center (Goa Branch), was named the winner of a brand-new tricycle. “I didn’t expect to win at all,” De Vera said. “I plan to register the tricycle and use it for transport services to earn extra income. It will also be a significant help in transporting the children to school and hauling supplies for my sari-sari store.”

A trade fair was also held. The fair featured a wide array of local products, all handcrafted by Microfinance members, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit that the program fosters.
