Consuelo: Stories of Hope
A press conference on the book “Consuelo: Stories of Hope” was held last December 19. It was an opportunity for a lively discussion with the local media and campus journalists.
The author, Alexandra Madrigal Eduque, revealed the inspiration and writing process behind the book. She shared that a strong faith in God is the common thread of the stories in the book.
Fr. Wilmer S. Tria, CCMF-Bikol, CEO, answered questions on CCMF-Bikol’s programs and Fr. Tria highlighted the call for poverty alleviation programs that promote self-reliance instead of dependence and mendicancy.
Susana AS Madrigal, Chairperson, Consuelo “Chito” Madrigal Foundation, (CCMF) Inc., shared the intent of the founder, Consuelo “Chito” Madrigal, to empower the poor and how CCMF extended its operations in Bikol.
Camarines Sur Provincial Director of Department of Trade and Industry, Jay Percival Ablan, in his message, shared DTI’s collaboration with CCMF-Bikol in promoting entrepreneurship as a means to independence. Kristian Cordero, Co-Chair of the Translation Committee of the National Book Development Board, said that the book was first launched in the International Book Fair in Frankfurt and was after launched in Metro Manila.
Evelyn Tena, Microfinance member and Shirley Pesebre, alumna of the Scholarship Program, gave testimonies on how CCMF-Bikol changed their lives.
CCMF Trustees Siony Pacardo and Gloria Cahulogan and CCMF Accountant, Cecille Gregorio were also in attendance. CCMF Main Office is located at Vicente Madrigal Bldg, Makati City.
